Weekend of Honor attendees are encouraged to remember self-care. The comfort room is a low-stimulation lounge intended for quiet time, water breaks or to connect with support members when scheduled grief sessions are not in progress. Grief professionals, Chaplains, Peer Support and CISM Team members, Licensed Clinical providers (including EMDR), therapy animals, and Child Life Specialists will be available to provide additional support.
This survivors-only event is an opportunity to meet and talk with others who are braving similar experiences. Facilitated by grief professionals, this gathering is a time to share with those who understand like no other.
All medallions, flags and other commemoratives utilized for the Service are prepared during this session. Activities include assembly of the Tree of Life Memorial, polishing of the memorial leaves, preparation of the medallions, and formal procedures for ironing and folding of the US and state flags take place. White glove procedures are utilized at this somewhat reverent meeting. All Honor Guard and agency members wishing to assist in this prestigious ritual should plan to attend
