Nicholas Theofilis 23, Penn Hills EMS, died in the line-of-duty in an ambulance accident. Described as “born to serve”, Nick found his passion for serving others while in high school. As an Eagle Scout, he developed a love for first aid and began training to be an EMT, was member of the Naval ROTC, a certified lifeguard, CPR Instructor, and firefighter. He was an enthusiastic public servant, known as a great paramedic who loved what he did, and was in the process of becoming a master mason. Upbeat and comical, Nick made others smile, laugh, and feel at ease, and he had an ability to bring everyone together. Kind-hearted, compassionate, and loyal, he made himself available to anyone who needed help. He is remembered as a “caring friend for all”, a description inscribed on a small plaque by his corner bar seat near the kitchen at his favorite watering hole. A beloved son, brother, grandson, Nick was “solid gold head to toe.”
