David Spink, 56, Barstow Fire Protection District, died in the line of duty as a result of an accident on-scene. A 32-year fire department veteran who loved his job, David is described as a professional engineer who was “very sound in his knowledge, skills and abilities.” He loved learning and reading, specifically about how things worked, and was drawn to future innovations. He enjoyed the outdoors and riding the Segway, quad, and motorcycles, gardening, scuba and sky diving, and was the owner of Handy Car Wash. He especially loved when his home, and pool, were filled with family and friends. A man of deep faith and family, he was married to the love of his life for 34 years, Colleen Ruth, father to their son, Dallen, and was a loving son and brother. David was devoted to three things during his life on earth - Christ, family, and protecting his community. Dallen, following in his father’s footsteps, is now a paramedic/firefighter for BFPD. David’s core values and characteristics will continue to serve in this world through him.
