Nickolas Ramirez, 59, San Diego Fire Department, died in the line-of-duty of COVID-19. Nick’s life of service began in the United States Navy and continued throughout his 31 years of service in Fire and EMS. Part of the 60th Basic Fire Academy class, and just days aways from retirement, he served the last 19 years at SDFD stations 10, 23, and 34. Described as an excellent firefighter and outstanding paramedic with an exceptional work ethic, Nick loved the fire service and took patient care very seriously. It was his heart, and boundless compassion, that truly set him apart. Beloved in the community, Nick is remembered as a generous and humble man whose infectious smile, fun energy, and quick wit brightened a day and left everyone around him in stitches. He enjoyed spending time with his family, also an integral part of the SDFD family, boating, and camping. Nick cherished and adored his wife Terrie and his daughters, Stephanie and Nicole.
