FDNY EMS
Alison Russo, 61, FDNY EMS, died in the line duty after being fatally stabbed by an assailant outside her station. In her 24 years of dedicated service to FDNY EMS she responded to over 25,000 emergency calls, including Ground Zero on 9-11, and volunteered, for almost 30 years, with Huntington Volunteer First Aid Squad. Described as a mentor, and the “best of the best,” she loved her station and was beloved by her colleagues. Affectionately considered “mother of the station,” Alison was always there for her co-workers, or “kids” as she called them. Remembered as a beautiful person who always put others first, she “wore her heart on her sleeve and would give you the shirt off her back.” An outdoor enthusiast, Alison loved watersports, going to concerts, and had recently begun golfing. Alison’s daughter, Danielle, her K-9 best friend, Bailey, and her mother and father, will carry her legacy along with the many lives she positively impacted through FDNY and HVFAS. She truly loved her family, and friends as well as the city that she served so well.
