Sara K. Weaver, 32, Florence County EMS, died in the line of duty as a result of an accident on scene. After serving briefly in the United States Air Force, she dedicated eight years of service in EMS to her community. Regarded as a talented and terrific paramedic doing the job she was in love with, there was “no doubt she was doing what she was meant to do.” Described as a “light in the world we all aspire to be,” Sara was an amazing friend, and a kind, sweet, and beautiful soul. Remembered for her smile that could light up any room, she was truly loving and compassionate. Sara was a woman of faith and loved by many, including her fiancé, Ashley, her parents, and sisters and brothers. Her memory is rooted in the hearts of those who loved her and, and like her favorite superhero, Captain America, her legacy lives on through Sara’s Shield, providing scholarships and first responder safety awareness education, and the Sara Weaver Act, expanding first responder benefits.
