Daryl E. Tombs, 52, American Medical Response, died in the line of duty of COVID-19. Daryl’s life of dedicated service included 30 years as a critical care paramedic, 911 dispatcher, volunteer firefighter, and instructor. Regarded as a talented and patient mentor, he instructed countless EMS students. Respected and adored by colleagues, Daryl was a wonderful person who made everyone smile, and served as an inspiration to those around him. His service is described as an “example of how everyone in EMS should be and how everyone should live their lives.” Remembered as a true gentle giant, Daryl was a good friend who provided guidance, laughter, love, and teddy bear hugs. He loved “to sing off key and make own his own lyrics when he forgot the words,” enjoyed estate and yard sales, camping, and Dunkin’ Donuts coffee. A loving brother and family man, the love of Daryl’s life was Carole, his wife, along with his children, Adam, Justin, Cameron, Brittany, Mackenzie, Kaitlyn, his grandchildren.
