Mark R. Ellis, 64, Renton Volunteer Fire Department, died in the line-of-duty of a medical event. Serving as the department’s Medical Officer, he was actively involved in volunteer fire service training collaborations. After a successful 42-year engineering career, he found his true passion in EMS. Known as a kind and genuine soul, he made an impact on everyone he met, and “had a way” of making others, the fire service, and EMS better. Described as a “guru” and “do-er,” Mark enjoyed tinkering in his garage where he constantly taught himself, and others, new things. A man of faith, he is remembered for times shared in prayer and thoughtful discussion with his co-workers. Most important to Mark was spending time with the family he adored. A widower of his wife Jennifer, Mark is remembered as “the best dad” to Monica and Amy, grandfather to Bradley, Bennet, and Carmela, and as a brother.
