Randall "Randy" Willems, 57, McPherson EMS, died in the line of duty of COVID-19. A 24-year EMS and fire service veteran, he began as a volunteer and ultimately retired as a Division Chief. An honorable public servant deeply committed to the safety of his community, Randy defined what a heart-filled, dedicated man should be. Known as an excellent firefighter and incredibly capable man, he invoked confidence in those around him. A respected role model, he inspired many young firefighters and EMS professionals, and his reputation encouraged and motivated those following in his shoes. Randy was an incredible man who made life fun and enjoyable for anyone in his presence. Described as a great guy, comfortable in his own skin, and always mellow, his humor and stories will be missed. He simply enjoyed life and helping people, and as an outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, riding motorcycles, and remodeling homes. Randy’s favorite thing to do was spend time with his family, including his wife of 28 years, Cheryl, his father, brothers and sisters, and his EMS and fire department family. An irreplaceable soul, Randy will be forever loved by all who knew him.
